the USSR limited edition valenki bear the
AKA culture logo skewed to resemble a hammer and sickle -- a symbol of where they came from. it was not long
ago that this symbol stood for communism and repression. we think it's time to
take this symbol back. we think it's time for the hammer and sickle to
represent progress rather than stagnation, to evoke a historic time period
rather than a way of life. let's memorialize culture rather than oppression,
and let's
remember ... valenki themselves are over 300 years old.
they have stood the test of time,
history, and politics -- an achievement that allows us to wear them today. with
the fall of the iron curtain and globalization rearing its often ugly head, we
can embrace the old and foreign in its innovated form.
AKA valenki are made of 100% organic wool. the wool boots form to your feet within several hours of wear and are breathable, warm, and therapeutic for your feet. the rubber galoshes are removable and protect the valenki from friction with pavement or wetness of streets. galoshi are unnecessary when there is ample snow. please consult the size chart to determine the appropriate size to purchase (and remember, when in doubt, we recommend going up). keep in mind that we do not make refunds and make exchanges only within 30 days of purchase.
