the valenki's miraculous warmth and comfort is a tribute to the natural
benevolence of wool. not only do the valenki withstand sub-zero
temperatures, but they also promote blood circulation in the feet. the
effect of wool on blood vessels is said to be so therapeutic, that we
recommend you wear your valenki in pure idleness.
made of 100% organic wool, valenki are named after the process by which
they are made. the word valenok in Russian, literally means "something
that is rolled." to make each boot, wool is rolled into felt and shaped
into a firm woolen sock. because the felt is a non-woven cloth that is
produced by matting, condensing, and pressing fibers together, the sock
is freestanding and rigid, yet nevertheless amenable to change. though
valenki are born androgynous in their left-foot right-foot orientation,
they quickly mold to harmonize with every individual foot. after just one wear, you are the owner of a distinctly customized pair.

in
low temperatures, valenki are worn
without a sole. as the climate warms to slushiness, valenki are
worn together with galoshi -- their over-protective counterparts. |
